Methodology you can inspect.
Atlas produces planning estimates from checked-in rules. It does not call an LLM, scrape live prices, invent provider scores, or turn an affiliate payout into a technical recommendation.

What the calculator does
The calculator begins with an edition-specific range for expected simultaneous players. It then applies visible headroom bands for the selected software profile, world maturity, and exploration intensity. The result is rounded to a practical RAM range rather than a false-precision number.
CPU, working storage, backups, region, and operating model are evaluated separately. More RAM does not cure every tick, storage, network, software, or configuration problem.

An established world adds 1 GB to the upper pre-rounded bound. Moderate exploration adds 1 GB to the upper bound. High exploration adds 1 GB to the lower and 2 GB to the upper bound. Backup and region selections never change RAM.
What the estimate is not
It is not an official requirement, benchmark, performance guarantee, or substitute for testing the exact server build. It does not model every mod, plugin, add-on, farm, entity count, view distance, storage device, noisy neighbor, network path, or software regression.
The model covers 1-500 simultaneous players. At larger scale, capacity planning, architecture, operational staffing, and load testing matter more than a broad web calculator.

Official download pages establish product context, not a universal sizing formula. The numeric weights are HostForge editorial heuristics and are labeled that way.
Provider comparison rules
The comparison begins with a small, manually selected list. Records are alphabetical unless a different order is explicitly disclosed. Every displayed fact must be traceable to the provider's official documentation and includes a manual review date.
A record older than 180 days falls back to “needs review.” HostForge does not silently preserve an old price, feature, score, uptime claim, discount, or availability statement.

Monetization separation
Editorial guidance, eligible official Minecraft purchase links, third-party hosting linkouts, and consented hosting leads are separate lanes. A paid link needs an exact approved destination and a plain adjacent commission disclosure. The contact form needs its own unchecked, named-recipient consent. Neither changes the calculator output.
Changing the rules
A rule change requires a version update, a review date, source-note review, and table-driven tests across boundaries and representative combinations. Older shared URLs remain normalized into the current documented rule version; Atlas does not pretend historical results came from a newer model.
